ABOUT THE ALBUM
Capture the Night is a compact disc containing 11 solo acoustic guitar pieces - ten holiday favorites and one original composition.

This collection of instrumental songs is presented on solo acoustic guitar. This music speaks in contemplation and dances in celebration. All songs are arranged and performed, without lyrics, by John Morgan. Each song is a musical gem set in an arrangement that allows the simple beauty of the melody to shine.

A NOTE FROM THE ARTIST
Music is an important part of the season. One of the most amazing things is the way the same songs come back year after year. After an 11 months rest, we gladly welcome them. Why? One word: melody. The melodies are simple and beautiful. More precisely, they are simply beautiful. Capture the Night is my take on a few of these melodies. Over the years I've added and combined, cobbled and entwined some of my favorites. It is my hope that these songs will find their way into your heart (and CD player) to become part of your December music.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Capture the Night is the third album of guitar music from John Morgan. His first disc, The Journey - Places Real and Imagined was released in 1996, while his second album, Stories, was released 3 years later. He performs regularly at many kinds of venues, from parties and small club gatherings, to large festivals. He travels extensively throughout central and northeast Ohio, but has appeared all across the US over the years. With numerous radio and television appearances to his credit, several of his songs have been played on nationally broadcast radio programs and are included on the playlist of satelliite music networks and internet radio stations. John is the author of Foundations for Great Guitar Playing.

"Now, I have to admit that I have never enjoyed Christmas carols and festive songs - call me Scrooge if you will, but the usual sanctimonious and ponderous versions that are the standard performances of these songs leave me nauseous and unmoved. However, someone has looked at these songs again and found an original way of presenting them in a simple and unadorned fashion, sloughing off the overdone sanctity and rediscovering the musical gems within.

Yes, the latest album by guitar wizard John Morgan is a collection of seasonal yuletide carols and other songs all performed as instrumentals. But thanks to Johns' nimble fingers and musical good taste, all the old hackneyed tunes have been revitalised to the point where they have been remodelled for the next millenia. If you've not discovered John Morgan's previous albums then you are missing out on a rather unique mix of folk style finger picking mixed with a little blues and country colouring. Think John Renbourn and Bert Jansch but with a little more swing and lilt to the playing. On the technical side of things, this is a beautifully recorded album, the guitar is crystal clear and sounds as if it is in the room with you - and having just bought a new hi-fi this album was a good test of the speakers clarity.
